im fairly disappointed by people who generally identify as libertarian leaning yet support vaccine mandates and passports without explicitly grimacing about the implications for government power and considering the actually implementability of these policies

Of course I grimace… But I am for mandatory vaccination of health workers, nursing home workers, and public employees who are in contact with vulnerable populations. I am a person who leans libertarian because I am not an anarchist, but I don’t want it to go too far.

I am also originally from the South and know the history of the subtropical disease which led to the creation of the CDC and its lication in Atlanta I consider public health matters like contagious epidemics part of the police and defense function. Like war.

Yellow Fever, Bubonic Plague, etc occasionally require state police interventions like mosquito control. What do you do about a case like Typhoid Mary? Again it is like the War fighting function. I honestly don’t expect competence from government but I expect police and an army

what matters to me is the grimace i personally dont think the parameters here justify the policy but im ok with this in certain scenarios and nursing homes yeah probably. also depends on stuff im not sure about
