i think probably the best tendency i have exhibited in my weird life is seeing opportunities as they arise and just going all in on them im not sure ive passed up any big ones and most of the ones ive hopped on have been instrumental in moving to the next stage

A planned approach is (almost by definition) long-termist, so an opportunistic one is more short-termist. So you might indeed end up in a dead end, ie follow a random path that leads nowhere, or just end up somewhere mediocre because you didn’t map out a route to somewhere better
