I used to be a subscriber in the early 2000s it went down hill fast.

I found them better than wapo/nyt for covid related stuff, not that it’s a high bar
Still subscribe for @conor64, @CaitlinPacific, and the occasional @Yascha_Mounk piece, but you’re right, the rest can be unbearable at times.
I’m a subscriber myself. Tbh some stuff they do (like this) is cringe, so you need to be selective with what you read. There have been and continue be some really solid pieces that come out of The Atlantic. I also enjoy the daily crossword.
