i think "bad at thinking" is key, different than "intelligent" theres an element of self control involved thats not broadly taught and seems to be endowed or learned rarely but feels key i think ASD-adjacent people often though not always have an advantage herehttps://twitter.com/Aella_Girl/status/1442298155354238976 …

ok it feels related but different or maybe just a subset of possible modes also not to do this AGAIN but perhaps kegan 3: coupling kegan 4: decoupling kegan 5: recouplinghttps://www.reddit.com/r/slatestarcodex/comments/8fnch2/high_decouplers_and_low_decouplers/ …

hmm curious if you could articulate what exactly recoupling means in this context and why it’s good i want to know what it means to you

with decoupling one strips away unnecessary or irrelevant context to get a clean or strong analytic answer in a given framework with recoupling i think about letting context seep back in, evaluating how that changes the answer bit by bit, testing the robustness of a lean result

its definitely related although i think in highly indexical situations theres an extent to which decoupling isnt that useful at all i think im really tired today
