Most bizarre thread. Middle-aged female therapists getting absolutely crushed by phone gift card scams.https://twitter.com/sfchronicle/status/1442527824556924935 …

Exactly. It's absurd to me. Even just being normal people, I only expect this kinda shit to catch old people. Sidenote: I support death penalty for those that engage in this stuff.

Every psych/social work major got in the field to fix themselves whether they know it or not. The former do well and the latter do this.

If an amateur psychologist beat a licensed psychologist in a game with real monetary stakes then what does that say about the lady complaining about home schooling the other day?

Depends. There's a HUGE difference between a therapist who works in prisons and mental hospitals on the one hand, and someone who spends their time helping ordinary people. Plus, working in compliance has taught me that ANYONE could be caught out by a scammer.
-
OK, but I feel like "the cops" asking you to buy Visa gift cards to clear your warrants should be an obvious red flag.

Are Americans having the same volume of scam calls/texts as we seem to be in the UK right now? BC over here pretty much every call I and most people I know get is a scammer.
-
The most common one is getting people to click a scam link and then pretending to be your bank fixing it & that has apparently been really good at tricking people. But honestly the point at which they say you can't hang up and call back is the point at which I would realise.
