Gotta channel Diogenes interacting with Alexander The Great.

Are you implying that Diogenes wanted to get it with Alexander the Great?

Quite the opposite. There’s another example of a stoic philosopher and a king which is less likely to be apocryphal, but the point remains the same. Nothing of gravity was held by Alexander in Diogenes estimation and thus, Diogenes didn’t worry what Alexander thought of him.

my view is that sufficiently advanced stoicism and epicureanism are indistinguishable

Stoics say get married, have babies, fight in battle to defend what is worth defending. Epicureans say retire to a garden, avoid sex, avoid battle.
