I wonder what’s the range of these jetpacks

Counterpoint: these things would require less warhead so something like quadcopter drones w/IR seekers might be viable for a kill. Just a random thought

Fun fact: there is an instance of using a PAC-3 on like a quad copter drone. If you’re looking for cost-ineffective, this is it
-
What’s a pac-3? Somehow I’ve reached the point that typing it into the Twitter box is more preferable than googling, which says a lot of not too good things about me :)

Yeah—casualty projections for airborne ops against near peers are so astronomical (like 80%+) primarily because of the number of aircraft that wouldn’t even make it to the drop zone. But OTOH jet pack troopers don’t seem economically viable either (except maybe limited SOF use)
-
IMO for jet pack troopers on a mass scale to make sense it would require a dramatic shift in our maneuver doctrine Infantry en-masse out Heinlein-esque super-soldiers in And I’m all for it

A Tunguska or Gepard could do the job and keep costs low, I expect
