      if i had to guess the modal death on the planet is a bacterium lysing and releasing huge quantities of viruses that have been replicating inside of it as it explodes and its not even close

          Likely true. In fact, the bacterial virus ecology of the Ganges River appears to effectively suppress water-borne disease even though it flows thru some of the densest human populations on Earth.
