I had to look up who Moldbug was, and what his Cathedral represented, and tried to determine what that represents with respect to the actual world. I still am not sure I could comprehend it.

On further thought the Cathedral is not a good analogy to the pre-Reformation church. The Cathedral can't set usury laws or send inquisitors to arrest, prosecute, and execute people, or declare a state as formerly pious, but now welcome to be invaded.
