"wealthy assholes" is almost a stereotype in the classic sense. and yet using violent crime as a proxy for being an asshole we see a very different relationship in data. curious https://twitter.com/kitten_beloved/status/1437907527476269056 …pic.twitter.com/jAkCVyHc6y

Why do violent crime when you can just do white collar crime?

Conspicuous wealth is definitely correlated with being an asshole though:https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2020/02/200226171110.htm …

just want to check in here with an anecdote about the behavior of inter-generationally rich people. some far flung extended family member on my mother's side is the heiress to a regional supermarket franchise. net worth in the $100 millions. (cont'd next tweet)

she was traveling with my mother to a family thing one time, forget the details but remember this part: they stop at a diner for a bathroom break on the highway. rich relative is an understated older woman, no conspicuous jewelry, etc. soft spoken and demure. (cont'd)

getting bad service from the diner, it's a mid-afternoon shift and the waitress is cranky, probably upset it's a bad shift (low tips) or something. rich relative calls over the waitress and very quietly asks if she can order some french fries to go. (cont'd)

waitress looks at them funny. they've just sat down and ordered. what's going on? she explains "its for my driver". service improved after that apparently.

moral of the story: nouveau riche show it off conspicuously. real wealth conceals it until it's time for a mic drop moment. cars and clothes are cheap and disposable. hired help is expensive and valuable. real wealth knows this.
