I dont know that I have any good advice about how to manage this apart from "this happens, and remember that scylla and charybdis bound these channels" let your identity be flexible as your needs change I guess, while tending to things you care about to keep them continuous

I don't know, I want my kids to enjoy my GTO Judge with me. (Not that I have one, mind you. Yet.) But I do see and completely understand what our friendly neighborhood robot is going through here. I haven't found it as disruptive as him, but it exists.

this frames this transition so well. you are not the protagonist's of moon's life, for example. she is. you'll have about 4 years with her and then she will start walking away. it is subtle for the first few years but then it is there. use this knowledge wisely
