I think it might not hold up in this case. Women already make more than men in the 25-30 age group in the Netherlands. The institutional web is extremely powerful here. Education is entrance ticket to an entire world that is not easily toppled. More men might just drop out

I was thinking about this recently. I was once told that women in Iran are empowered because they are a higher percentage of graduates, but I recently began to realize that women pursue education in Iran because they have no real opportunity anywhere else.

So in Iran, pursuing an education as a woman is more than anything an attempt to escape because of your lack of power. I don't know how that translates to America except insofar as it cuts against the idea that education = power.
