phones are the computers they made for people who arent able to use normal computers i mean this in a very real way if your on your phone you are using a UI designed such that a small child would have no difficulty operating it

for the problems phone interfaces (and they are in their infancy), solve, they do great you can't easily write elisp on your phone okay, do you need to on your phone? they are a good fit, so far, to allow non-experts to do very sophisticated things

and to *require* expertise to do sophisticated things (or even simple things- getting irc running is not trivial (for most), tho it's really a trivial problem) is just *bad design*

tho i agree current ui design is shitting the bed for making actually powerful abstractions- but i might charge nerds with dropping the ball on that windows engineers think changing byzantine registry settings to fix a bad design decision is trivial
