a common theme in all these books is some Common Man (rare trope these days!!!) shows up in a rarefied space and has to forge a team together to beat some snobs in spite of adults being corrupt and bad, system being messed up, etc this is in *all* of these books

and universally the idea is that ok so these adults are dicks (maybe a few are ok) and the trick to winning is to become True Friends and find the virtue in even the least of your comrades and even enemies and lift up the broken etc etc

so my question is. why are the millennials who read these books so fucking bad at taking this universal Moral to heart looking at how my fellow kids are actually living youd think it never occurred to them to wonder. am i the baddie this feels like an indictment of literature

had to read this twice to realize it's not saying that Jennifer Lawrence and Harry Potter were in Ender's Game.

The characters and combat scenes are better than any other battle school I've read, if that's added incentive

I always called it Ender's Hunger Games; it takes the style and just has enough flair to make it pop. Sequels are fine but don't top it.

I did not expect to like the series as much as I did. The author is really good at pacing and cliff hangers. I was consistently saying “ok, seriously, just one more chapter…”

that series is a guilty pleasure of mine I am never sure whether to count it as YA on account of it being extremely violent and torture-heavy
