Yes. Fire Upon the Deep and Deepness in the Sky are great. The other is so forgettable I failed to even retain the title.
Yeah all three are very different, A Fire Upon the Deep is my favorite for sure. I love books that go to some length to imagine the information environment of their scifi civilization; Murderbot does a good job of that too.
Maybe everyone was expecting something different, but IMO Deepness In The Sky is more interesting than Fire Upon The Deep. Less epic worldbuilding, but more of a deep dive into cultural forces.
Totally agree. I really liked Fire in the Deep but Deepness in the Sky sucked me in and I'm still thinking about it.
