        And then you hit IIRC ~100 MT at which point it literally blows the top off the atmosphere and starts shedding way more energy out that way. We built Tsar Bomba to prove we could and also most of our actual working nukes are <10MT.

        you can also do fancy things like detonate in timed formation so the shockwaves coincide at the target with higher strength than they would alone a lot of silo targeting would be four bombs in a square centered on the silo

        I think it's the "not deferring to presumed experts" part that's impressive. It's a lot easier to get this question right if you know it's a question, and more impressive to realize the mistake in a conversation when the other party is probably not even giving explicit numbers.
