I predict that any loss of American life in Afghanistan will not be met with any more societal outrage (if you can think of a way to formalize, happy to wager) than Khoshoggi's assassination was. Americans have bigger concerns right now, like virtue signaling about face masks.

Khashoggi wasnt being stupid, it didnt happen in SA. He was in NATO ally and typically reasonably safe country Turkey when he was assassinated by a Saudi hit squad. However as a foreign-born US resident he obvi didn't affect the same emotional response as citizens
