Tarrifs etc are also a big deal when you're a country's biggest trading partner. It just means that you're also vulnerable to retaliation.

Culturally, who is dropping the ball here? Agree that it's second fiddle in many convos, but I still hear many on the right that basically say this (but not as explocit abt global trade). Maybe it's just lost its cultural cachet?
