Why do people care so much about these ivy league schools and how they admit people? It seems like it's only really beneficial to a few majors. Maybe it's just something I really do not care about since I seemed to have done well without it.

I think we are about to see a shift in that. I think the shift started maybe a decade ago, I think it's going to accelerate. It has nothing to do with people fighting against their admissions process. The elite class is shifting towards tech

Only people in tech think this. I would say the war for influence between east coast elites and west coast tech has already been fought over the last 7 years and tech has lost.
