im vaccinated and i would really prefer everyone choose to be vaccinated but i dont spend time talking about this for a few reasons. this first is that i dont actually think it would have the desired effect if i just yelled at people about it. relatedly this feels tendentious.

rulers in a democracy cannot afford to be openly contemptuous of the people they govern, and even aside from that this kind of attitude is indecent and inhumane and I really wish people quite generally would stop burning down the country to own their outgroup

Hmm, I guess I don't see how Lyman's response necessarily contrasts with the take you're describing in your first tweetpic.twitter.com/m5tN6IWAaa

do you think "bankrupting everyone who resists" is anything like the minimal amount of coercion or even the most useful sort of coercion necessary to attain the desired end?

No threatening, no coercion. “Hey I know this is unusual, I took it. I think you should take it but I understand you’re wary of the risks so here’s $1000 if you get it.” 30 million people woulda come out to $30 billion a drop just add it to 3.5T the human infra bill

the reasonable thing to do is: give positive incentives (eg tax examptions or something for the poor as well) do not send mixed signaling (the thing the media and institutions are messing up)
-
for every vaccine shot give the choice of a free box of: a) weed, or b) ammo

I had covid. Twice. Before vaccines were available. I have a screwy immune system that makes me hesitant to take anything. Despite all that I was still willing to get vaccinated but my doc said not right now. As things have progressed I’ve become 100x more “vaccine hesitant”.
