one thing i appreciate is how massively and fractally federalized power in the US is the government actually has great difficulty in doing much on a federal scale in the face of resistance by localities and this seems to be becoming more true

off the top of my head the feds have been unable to enforce immigration law and marijuana prohibitions various states and cities just dont give a fuck and the feds cant do anything about it but i think theres some real red_dot_airplane.jpg energy here

these are the cases where states/cities openly defy the feds what we are not seeing are cases where the central government doesnt even bother trying to flex because they know its pointless to do so

occasionally the feds can do stuff like force up the drinking age by tying it to federal funds but ok did anyone really care about 20 year olds being allowed to get drunk no offense to the kids but probably not. also its not like the law actually stops any of you

but it goes further. local areas also ignore state laws. gun control is a common example, many sheriffs often just say "naw we dont care what the capitol says were not gonna enforce it" fractal

anyway i am a law disrespecter and im more worried about scaled shitty government than local shitty government because Exit exists and the easier Exit becomes the better. so I see this as beautiful and good even if there are marginal cases where national unity would be efficient
