The more time I spend on postrat twitter, the less I'm in the habit of directly contradicting people. My first impulse is to engage in verbal aikido and like, make a tangential humourous point or a subtle dig with 200 layers of plausible deniability. Not good.

Yeah, I think that probably captures a big chunk of it. It isn't on the label, but the attitudes are the same.

I think a lot of people treat them as sort of different but equally valid approaches. The way I see it, they both have more valid and less valid aspects to them, and what we need more than acceptance of both is a synthesis of the two, based on circumstances
