think some of this sense comes from the backlash to the awful Provincetown reporting and the inability to get messaging right on that and then there was the eviction fuckup. how do you even spin that things just seem out of sync

Empirical reality has becoming increasingly divorced from narrative. Narrative only works when there is sufficient alignment with actual reality to make it plausible for everyday people that the "big brains" know enough to ignore it.
