My introduction to Milton Friedman was very weird. I was playing this game Power and Revolution which is basically a geo-political simulator with a wide slew of options for governing a real world country. You can set the taxes, the laws and make trade deals. It is pretty...(1)

... realistic. It was made by company that makes wat simulation softwares for the Pentagon. It's pretty realistic and accurate as far as my knowledge goes. In this game, when I started lowering interest rates in order to boost my industries and employment rates, the...(2)

...inflation started skyrocketing. When I struck extremely profitable trade deals with India and China, while playing as USA, the inflation skyrocketed again. I just could not figure out how to have a high growth rate, and control the inflation in my economy simultaneously. (3)

I decided to watch a few lectures on macroeconomics and then try to play the game. As I searched in YouTube for lectures about inflation, the first video that I came across was this: https://youtu.be/B_nGEj8wIP0 (4)

I was so captivated by his reasoning and arguments that could not stop watch his talks and lectures for the next whole week. I absorbed add much as I could. I learnt about the Fischer Equation as much as I could, and i came back to the game. And lo and behold, it worked! (5)

I finally understood why the USA could never stop subsidising its automobile manufacturing industry, even if it did stop subsidising its Fossil fuel industries in the energy sector. It's the same reason why any public transportation that's built in the US is a waste of money. (6)

It's a good game, and I'm happy that it forced me to learn more about economics, just to be able to play the game better. (7)

Oh! One final note: I was able to completely pay off all the debts of the US government and started having a surplus in government treasury that generated intrest for the US government. I was able to do this only and ONLY because i levied a 2% Industrial Pollution Tax. (8)
