Pay scale aside, I have no confidence in govies being able to recruit and interview good talent. I think you could double the rates and they still wouldn't pick - and then promote and incentivize - the right people

I dont remember what this says but one major distinction between bigtech and government is the among of agency given to workers, vs the extent to which their duties are prescribed and limited by law and that seems important
