the only place where I think academia can work out financially is business schools (top 50 b-school profs get paid well) and probably computer science (can consult in summers and competition from big tech keeps salaries high)

cs is great im not optimistic about b schools long term. they're pretty much everywhere a scam and people are going to figure this out

So far I have convinced 6 of the 7 nieces and nephews I have with graduate degrees to not go into academia. They all started their first jobs at least double my current salary. I never felt a minute of guilt about this. Thanks for the article. It will buttress my argument to #7
