one other thing to note, im skeptical of long covid claims generally but even so this does seem bad after some back and forth. I would want to see more before having an Opinion but this does make me real nervous about the possibility of a severe casehttps://twitter.com/NLRG_/status/1418747874138021891?s=19 …

and vaccines seem to be pretty effective at preventing severe cases because (boring reasons) even if they don't always entirely prevent noticeable infection

"any really egregious side effects would probably have been detected at this point" like DEATH ? Yeah, it has been detected

That's a good take. Any vaxx is slightly risky but infection seems riskier, to break the figures down very roughly: Infection - total lifetime risk of being infected at least once (50-80%+) - risk of mild complication 5% , risk of serious complication 1%, risk of death 0.1%
-
Vaxx - reduces risk of serious infection significantly for what seems like 6-18 mo, possibly longer. Vaxx complication risk: mild 2-3 %, serious 0.4 %, death - too few to meaningfully measure.

Didn't JnJ just get sacked for causing an auto-immune disease?

Lol—Check the entire history of pharmaceuticals, its most recent adventure being a smoking suppressant that causes the very cancer it’s meant to help you avoid. And at a minimum the 2nd point is flawed bc the vacc works, according to its own PR, by causing the selfsame infection.
