my understanding is that the way things used to be done was that corruption stopped being acceptable as soon as it was discovered but weve had at least two administrations in a row where that seems to no longer be the case

if it ever was? maybe im just imagining this norm but it sure seemed like corruption scandals were really bad for politicians when they broke at varying points in the past

im not old enough to remember how the clintons really played out. with the marc rich pardon and the lincoln bedroom and all of the donations to the clinton foundation by foreign governments but i do remember people reporting on it in disgust at the time

the republicans if i recall correctly spent most of the nineties screaming about this. and fairly successfully in the sense as evidenced by the fact that i retain this information somehow they dont seem to be doing the same with biden and that is interesting
