Maybe I need context to understand people? It explains a lot about how a person spends their time, and can be useful figuring their perspective I also like knowing where a person grew up and some insight into wealth/upbringing I hate small talk..

I read the essay. I don't got the patience with people for the long-game politeness - without sufficient info I won't remember them I could stand to build my skill in near term friction reduction (yk, be less clunky)https://medium.com/s/story/how-to-be-polite-9bf1e69e888c …

Some people enjoy talking about their job. I do! But it can make it feel like a forced interaction, and I feel like I always come across like Robert Webb in this sketchhttps://youtu.be/1W34wyKZlWQ

I try other questions a lot but “what do you spend your time doing” is a pretty solid opener for me. Interested to hear better suggestions
