how did Europeans socially, culturally, intellectually respond to gunpowder in the late medieval era seems like this was a real new thing under the sun and im curious how everyone took it

I think gunpowder weapons developed too slowly to have that kind of "oh snap this changes everything" impact like say the internet has had

you are right there, the SOUND is more terrifying than the fact that it throw something and kill someone (throw something that kill someone is what the human body evolved into, apes can't do that very well, neither any other animal very well)
