how did Europeans socially, culturally, intellectually respond to gunpowder in the late medieval era seems like this was a real new thing under the sun and im curious how everyone took it

perhaps not although maybe one thing of importance is that they might actually see gunpowder greek fire was pretty restricted in range owing to secrecy and the amount of equipment needed to use it i think
