a few things: 1. weight is clearly extremely homeostatic. I've never been overweight idk what it's like being on a diet but I understand you feel hungry a lot and it sucks. 2. related to above, you'll to maintain a certain energy balance every day and if it's wrong you get fat

3. this seems maybe related to diet because western diets make people and animals fat or something? 4. but if you actually try to isolate which part all you get is noise also 5. poor people get fat more but "healthy" food is, in fact, very very very cheap

6. related to 5, if you go to parts of europe where salaries are low and healthy food is even more expensive you get people in the same real income bracket who are less fat. So...is it...executive function?

rich people are shamed much more aggressively for being fat than poor people is one suspicion I have another is that while such foods are cheap in monetary terms they are not in terms of convenience nor in human capital required to prepare them

also literal capital you can live Iike a king off rice and beans with a few spices, but you need equipment -pots, utensils, a stove, a fridge to store leftovers, ett its easy to assume everyone has this stuff but in reality poor people often don't

certainly not most, but it's more common than you might think to lack one or more essential items and of course beyond the absolute essentials there are things that make it *easier*

if you add up all the cheap kitchen tools you need to make cooking easy you can end up spending quite a bit ofc in principle you can get a lot of shit super cheap by thrifting, but that takes time and knowledge, so even more human capital
