Yeah I mean, if you're willing to make your own, like, matzo for dinner every day and eat it with ground beef you can feed a family of four on that for like what $70 a week? tops? I did the math on this at one point. But that's actually a lot of work. And it will taste like shit.

From my personal experience, McArdle nails something v important here I grew up poor-ish. My parents grew up Actually Poor (TM). We just simply couldn't *conceive* of many ways to enjoy life!

The result: both my parents were prone to milking food for all it was worth in terms of pleasure, and I picked that up, too. I'd stuff my face, eat random junk food, because it made me feel good Sometimes I think it's a miracle I didn't get fat (cf. homeostasis, ig)

The medical industry is very likely to go bananas on this front especially if there's any significant shift in insurance coverage for weight loss medication and I'm willing to bet that there will be (disclaimer I work in the industry)
