I think you would probably nuke China and India and possibly try to set off a volcanic chain reactionhttps://twitter.com/davidshor/status/1414610330387427336 …

I think if you really placed climate above literally everything else you'd probably try to cut a deal with Republicans where you trade very large amounts of money for clean tech R&D in exchange for tax cuts for rich people.

Don’t tell me you care about halting climate change if you’re not willing to go to war with China over their greenhouse gas emissions. Also India. And Russia, for that matter. You don’t get to call yourself an environmentalist until you fully commit to the cause.

Or we could just deploy more solar power instead, thereby making it the cheapest source of energy. Seems better to me. 🤷https://ourworldindata.org/cheap-renewables-growth …

That's good and all but energy storage isn't near as cost effective and requires a lot of precious metals also what happens when it isn't windy or sunny? You need a base of nuclear that can compensate. There is much greater energy density w nuclear and recycling issues w wind

We'll fill in with natural gas for now. Unfortunately nuclear plants are so expensive and take so long to build that I suspect any we start building today will be outclassed by the time they're completed by storage or geothermal. (We should try anyways.)https://elidourado.com/blog/geothermal/ …

I don't think we can adapt to the 4C we're headed for with anything like the civilization we have now. The BATNA here is geoengineering.

The first chapter of Ministry For the Future has a pretty plausible scenario. In it, a heat dome like the one that just hit the PNW hits India and 20 million people die. In response, India deploys its airforce to spray SO2 in the upper atmosphere.https://www.orbitbooks.net/orbit-excerpts/the-ministry-for-the-future/ …
