Maybe so, but there's a conflation of "using negative space for communication" and "desire not to ruffle feathers". And vice versa with "being explicit and clear" vs "liking to hear yourself talk"

Yeah The Netherlands is an ask culture and we were pretty homogenous until 1980. Also I'm from the north, we are even more direct, BUT also kings of negative space. People don't talk that much, lots of silences in groups, very laconic style often.
