I REALLY disagree with Mr. Bibeault's comment. A major reason happily married couples are happily married is that they've figured out how to pursue the best for "us" as opposed to the best for "me" and are doing so (most of the time).

I’ll agree that there are things in maintaining relationships that are a skill you can learn. E.g. communication.
