Emory is a school I know entirely from getting some glossy mailer from in the early aughts they maybe had a round logo otherwise they were completely unremarkable to me. a platonic nonentity of a university couldnt tell you what part of the country its in

15.6% acceptance rate. I can’t find good data but Harvard most likely had a higher acceptance rate 20-30 years ago.

Another thought: it’s so easy to apply to many colleges that some probably reject great students because they expect they’ll get admitted to and enroll in higher-ranked schools.
