I hate this conclusion because my fondest desire is for everyone to fuck off and leave other people alone but a very large number of people are not up to the task of making good decisions for themselves and the consequences of those bad decisions affect many other people

It's okay, we can switch from a denylist model to an allowlist model. Every woman is prohibited from birth unless government approved. Alternatively, all babies are IVF and a Department of Surrogacy is established.

Eh, things like forced sterilization are absolutely bad but IMO people selecting for positive traits when choosing a mate are not. There absolutely used to be more social/family pressure to consider things like intelligence/success/medical history then there is now and I’m not

Convinced that’s a good thing. Nature plays a bigger role than people want to admit today, acknowledging that it exists isn’t in and of itself bad

This is kind of a straw man though - there's a wide range if state action possible between forced sterilization and nothing (e.g. make birth control available at low or negative cost).
