alot of the time you see antiwar activists attacking wartime politicians for being pussies because theyre ordering military strikes but not actually fighting themselves which ok. but i dont think theyd enjoy it more if say bush 2 had been slitting throats in fallujah himself

i was going to say that a second happy effect of this would be more politicians dying in battle but then i realized this would probably only lead to the evolution of more powerful politicianshttps://twitter.com/TLEPaz/status/1409649539108139009 …

more general case of "you think this would be a good thing? but you won't incur severe personal cost to achieve it? must not be that good" being a lame argument
-
The idea that we'd have fewer wars if leaders had to ride into battle is historically laughable as well.

Just want my leaders to ride into battle, is that too much to ask?

Doesn't every little American boy fantasize about being the "Commander-in-Chief" who actually goes into battle like Bill Pullman in "Independence Day"?
-
He was a fighter pilot before he was President! more little American boys fantasize about being Randy Quaid, tbh. Spend your time drinkin', flyin' crop dusters, and then - bammo - destiny calls and you're given a multimilliion dollar fighter, and then saving the day.
