anyway basic claim is maternal phthalate levels are quite predictive of incomplete masculinization of sons as measured by anogenital distance (AGD), this tends to be permanent and correlated with low sperm count

not a systematic layout but so far suggesting it's mostly in food and not just at the source although apparently microwaving in plastic is quite bad but it's also upstream, eg in food processing. so really no way to get complete mitigation https://twitter.com/greatgarett/status/1405826715264430089 …

eg "we need a regulatory system for chemicals more like europe's" ok but you're seeing similar effects in europe that you do in the us so it seems it isnt doing much good eh and she doesnt address this or even seem aware of this issue in her reasoning

idk i think i agree with her reasoning and suspect that with respect to many of these issues regulation is probably the best solution on net although the thoughts of costs pain me i dont wanna be this guy adjacenthttps://twitter.com/eigenrobot/status/1405642729816690690 …

oh well most of the good stuff was in the first 20 minutes. the end

incidentally one consideration is that phthalate levels are probably extremely important during fetal development but maybe not so much outside it, relatively so may be of maximal interest if you're currently reproducing
Show this thread -
overall I would guess 1. she's probably right on the effects on fetal development 2. it's probably less important to attend to if you're not pregnant or likely to become pregnant

3. she seems like kind of a maximalist and not actively considering tradeoffs which is a really bad sign when someone is advocating for major social changes de gustibus
