generally i think we probably overaccommodate trauma now, vs probably underaccommodating it say thirty years ago iraq II may have been the turning point. a lot of people were coming back with diagnosed PTSD from eg seeing their friends killed or maimed by IEDs

The argument against is is indeed this. It's the 'hacking' of the harm principle. But is there a way back? The harm principle has been hacked imo, and it looks unpatchable.

The physical harm is 'objective' that is its main appeal. In fact I don't even think a lot of people railing against current hacking of the harm principle are actually denying psychological trauma exists. They just want to crudely patch it with objectivity.

All trauma will be credited at a socially determined uniform rate for offenses of like nature, irrespective of subjective suffering. The traumatized carry the obligation to discipline their subjectivity to a level of sensitivity which is globally sustainable.

Thank you, I really needed to see this take, we have a serious problem at my shared flat with a fresh new roommate who obviously lived through some real tough shit, but has been low-key abusing everyone by playing this card against us...

My solution is to be calm, then yell at people and play noise rock very loud once we hit the point of no return It seems to be working, but one of these days I might end up in a gutter with broken ribs, we shall see
