im sort of poking fun at the framing but I think the core idea is fairly sound someone once wrote, regarding a fanatic, something along the lines of "no one believes anything true with such fervor"

in theory it's possible that a perfect community would set certain true things as unquestionable because it'd simply waste effort defending them in practice, any community arrogant enough to do this is likely to have stopped questioning itself *before* reaching truthful values.
