There are modes of EW attack that go beyond interrupting comms. I don’t believe we’re prepared to deploy those capabilities as widely as they might be needed. But: autonomous drones are also a much greater challenge to use effectively than piloted ones.

at the point in which the latter eventuality supplants the current reality, we will likely not be speaking of countries as the actors in such conflicts. at that point i'd be asking what sort of conflicts you expect to see that would lead to this kind of warfare.

Likeliest scenario? This adds to the already long list of colorful ways that cartel leaders meet their ends, but in military context is just an incremental tactical development rather than a revolution in military affairs.
