is there a parenting style that is distinctly millenial? like boomers wanted to be their kids friends (or was that the silent generation) whereas greatest generation was gruff and distant because they all had ptsd

My sister is majorly consent-brained and her daughter has to consent to everything (Spoiler: it's retarded)

some people are trying to get their babies to consent to diaper changes

I'd love to see that in action. Does it look like the baby won't stop crying now because of the diaper rash?

asking for consent to change a diaper is a good idea. this doesn't mean that it won't happen if there's no consent. but babies can definitely be partners in the process. seen this 1st hand w my second. see Emmi Pikler.

after a few months our kid was raising his hips when we needed to list diaper away, spreading knees while we folded a new one on him. lots of smiling. adding consent can transform wrestling-through-mundane-chore into high quality connection time.

(otoh 100% *requiring* consent, instead of just trying to get it, sounds close to negligent to me)
