this is actually a very interesting article. Perhaps what the Theosophical society is to us, New Atheism, etc etc. would be to future generations: A movement that left few traces, but somehow made its impact over vast swathes of culture and intellectual history.

The theosophical society, was a group of european mystics and occultists who decided to go to Asia and research asian religions to support their own ideas; we owe things like the Tibetan Bk of the dead, yoga and the west's general interest of buddhism to them
