are there any good histories of the second great awakening in america the baptists and methodists were clearly running amok from what i can tell of the stories of that time. for like a solid 50 years. i desire to understand this better

Interesting that the colonists were outcasts for being ultra conservative, certainly not 'tolerant' (eg Maryland was only allowed to be Catholic bc they agreed no Jews) but the Founders were a specific kind of secularist that tempered this
