I finished a new shawl a while ago but I feel like I have to preface it because it’s very strange, I just want people to dunk on it for the RIGHT REASONS

When I realized you could mix wool colors like paint, I noticed that the linear or curved-linear axis of knitting (hence color change) made things look like landscapes even if the colors weren’t photorealistichttps://twitter.com/literalbanana/status/1323021609817448448 …

I am suspicious of figurative/realistic designs in knitting because it seems like having an umbrella with a Van Gogh starry night on it - just wrong for the medium - I’ve kept it to “this is about rocks” and “this is about the moon” without being too literal

But I figured out a way to knit with multiple color-change sections in a very simple way (not just linear) and I wondered how far I could take it

OK here it is. I don’t think it’s particularly “wearable” but this experiment seemed to confirm that you can get realistic creepiness with only a couple formspic.twitter.com/ZXmOt8riZ8
