i have only read a single short story by DFW i confess to not liking it very much i think prose should be itself a pleasurable thing, and DFW deliberately writes in a style so dry and non-lyrical that it hurts at least, that's what i recall from six years ago

I got several chapters into Infinite Jest a few years back, and while I found his use of language clever, it was certainly not easy to read in the way that I find Philip K. Dick and Shirley Jackson easy to read. I did enjoy it, though, and will return when I am not a zombie
