Depends on the jobs I have a feeling a great many of the jobs lost last year won't be faculty, they'll be custodial staff whose services are less required in empty buildings
-
weirdly I think they'll have an easier time finding new work once things open up

the article is horrendous but job losses have hit auxiliary staff worse than any. think kitchen ladies, night-time cleaners etc. also think universities aready on the brink. administrative bloat has increased of course
-
i genuinely feel for custodial staff but I am less worried about their placement--feels like a more transferrable skill set

the guy who used to take 4 hour lunch breaks and miss appointments to open the scantron room & shrug his shoulders when copiers broke, well his job is now to take appointments 48 hours in advance to unlock the building for people (we all have keys) 60k salary + benefits
