common ones are "the Outgroup is coming for your women," "the Outgroup believes crazy things and is coming to get you," and "an important person died so lets do something crazy"

under normal conditions a--say--temperamentally centrist coalition can form to brand people who use this class of arguments as demagogues and cast them out of discourse

if conditions worsen however you can imagine that everyone will defect eventually if the "demagogues" get a foothold, because these methods are potent political weapons
